Notes on battery disposal
In connection with the sale of batteries or the delivery of devices containing batteries, we are obliged to inform you of the following:
Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste.
You can either return used batteries that we carry or have carried as new batteries to us at your own expense or return them free of charge to our dispatch warehouse (dispatch address).
Alternatively, you can return the batteries to local collection points.
You are legally obliged to return used batteries so that they can be recycled or disposed of properly.
Used batteries can contain harmful substances that can damage the environment or your health if they are not stored or disposed of properly. However, batteries also contain important raw materials such as iron, zinc, manganese or nickel and can be recycled.
The symbol of the crossed-out dustbin means that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste.
For batteries that contain a certain mass of lead, cadmium or mercury, the following additions under the symbol indicate the respective harmful substances:
- Pb = battery contains more than 0.004 percent lead by mass
- Cd = battery contains more than 0.002 percent cadmium by mass
- Hg = battery contains more than 0.0005 percent mercury by mass
Information on the costs included in accordance with article 56 (4) of the EU Battery Regulation (Regulation 2023/1542) can be found at the Battery Back Initiative.
